AURORA, ONTARIO, Canada, December 1, 2010 – Magna Slovteca s.r.o, a manufacturing division of Magna International Inc.’s Mirrors operating unit, has won a 2010 Automotive Lean Production Award in the global companies category from the German trade journal Automobil Produktion and the business consulting company Agamus Consult. The awards honor plants which have been highly successful in implementing lean production processes aimed at superior customer service, and were given during the fifth Automotive Lean Production trade conference, which was held at Audi AG in Ingolstadt, Germany, on November 23.
“This award recognizes the outstanding performance of the entire team at Magna Slovteca and underlines that our continuous efforts to improve efficiency have been successful. This is an important message to our customers and gives additional motivation to the Slovteca team,” said Don Walker, CEO of Magna International.
Magna Slovteca was recognized for implementing the production system MAFACT (Magna Factory Concept) which is based on a strict lean production philosophy incorporating the entire value chain.
More than 60 companies – automakers as well as suppliers – participated in this international benchmark competition. This year's award winners, in addition to Magna Slovteca, are Audi, BMW, Schmitz Cargobull and PWO.
